The Fortnite x Disney collaboration is going to be one of the best parts of the game, Disney is investing $1.6 billion in epic games to create its own “Disney Universe” within Fortnite. Players will get to see this big partnership between Fortnite and Disney in the game by late 2026. Recently Bloomberg shared a news, based on information from current or former employees of Epic Games, that Epic is developing a Disney extraction shooter for Fortnite.
This next project from Epic is going to be based around Disney characters, an entire game built with a new style of gameplay that has not been used before in Fortnite.

What is Fortnite Disney Extraction Shooter?
According to Bloomberg report, Epic is working on an extraction shooter game similar to Arc Raiders, which will feature popular Disney characters. You’ll land in the game, fight enemies, and have to reach an extraction point before other players eliminate you.
Which Disney character you will play in the game is not confirmed yet. But Epic has already made deals with Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar, and Pixar, so the characters in the game are going to be massive and fun.
Fortnite Disney Extraction Shooter Could Release Later This Year?
The game is targeted for release in November 2026. Which is a tight window, because some employees inside Epic are actually worried. Internal reviewers have flagged that the game’s mechanics are not yet ready “they don’t feel original” although other team members are confident that this will come along.
This sounds like a promise to fans, however, reviewers have expressed concerns that the mode lacks originality, as it appears to be inspired by Arc Raiders. But Epic employees believe that the game modes will be polished and improved as the release date approaches.
Apart from the Fortnite Disney Extraction shooter, Epic is working on two more major Disney titles. A similar internal review was received on one of the titles from employees. While the other has reallocated its resources to its first two projects, when it was revealed that “Disney is disappointed about Epic’s release timeline”.

Will it be a Separate Game or part of Fortnite?
This is the biggest question that still has no answer. No one has yet confirmed whether this game will be separate or whether it will be accessible from within Fortnite.
Epic Games has done both of these before. Fortnite already has separate modes, “Rocket Racing” and “LEGO Fortnite.” They feel like completely different games, even though they launch from the same menu in Fortnite. It is possible that Disney Extraction Shooter will also follow the same model but it can also be released completely as a separate game.
Either way, this partnership between Epic and Disney is bigger than any other skin collaboration. Because in the year 2024, Disney has invested $1.5 billion in Epic Games, in which Epic will produce its own game of Disney characters.
Unfortunately, Epic itself has admitted that Fortnite’s growth has slowed down over the past few seasons. CEO Tim Sweeney said the company is struggling to consistently deliver what he calls “Fortnite Magic” each season.
The Disney Extraction shooter and other Disney games could be a big comeback for Fortnite, getting the company’s momentum back. If Epic can pull off a fun, polished game with Disney’s recognizable characters, they may be able to win over a new audience to the genre.
Keep an eye on Epic, Fortnite, and Disney to be the first to receive game-related updates and shifts. November is not far away, so fans are likely to get updates, trailers and gameplay videos of the game.
